Freedom in Mark Twain's Huckleberry Finn
Mark Twain is one of the most critically acclaimed authors of the current generation. Critically, his book the adventures of Huckleberry Finn has been rated by numerous bodies across the globe as one of the most read books across the globe. Some scholars believe that the theme of freedom is the most significant in the text, and the author uses various mechanisms to bring out the issue. Additionally, it is essential to note that freedom in the book varies depending on the character that is used by the author. One of the most important things to note is the fact that Mark Twain does a superb job in bringing out the theme of freedom, and it does not matter the character that is used by the individual. Freedom in the book has been expressed in Jim, the runaway salve's journey, and Huck's journey, as explored below.
A reader would be quick to spot that Huck seeks freedom by running away from the civilized world, while Jim seeks to escape the world of slavery. All in all, one would notice that although both individuals come from different backgrounds, their ultimate goal is to seek freedom by running away from their current life. Freedom can be defined as an urge to live a free life, and in this case, Jim seeks to run from the control that comes with being a slave, while on the other hand, Huck is tired of all the pressures that come with civilized life.
