Advance directives are lawful documents given to patients to fill and describe their wishes/expectations in case of loss of life while treatment goes on. They are used in medical care facilities to avoid future confusions among the family, friends and healthcare professionals. It is less of a will. An advanced directive is mainly used when there is suspicion of end of life of the patient. It is considered as a legal end of life care. According to Sea right article, on the topic “Advanced Directives and End of Life Care”, distrusts on the healthcare system, cultural background and racial segregation from the healthcare system has been the key issues.
These key issues stood out because, survey research study suggestions affirmed that Asians, Hispanics, and blacks in comparison with the white race have lower rates of advance direct completion. Most elderly white patients took the advance directive initiative in comparison to the rest of the races. First, racism has been observed in the healthcare system on advance directives, many black families have viewed DNR as limits to expensive healthcare.
