Essay About Abortion
Abortion is a process of terminating a pregnancy. It involves the use of medicine or by a surgical operation to remove the fetus or embryo from the uterus lining. On legal grounds it should be done by a licensed physician or health officer. Contrary to this, it may cause pain and death if performed by a traditionalist or through herbal medication commonly known as traditional medicine. However, the practice is legalized in some western countries like U.S.A but highly rejected by African countries based on their religious beliefs terming God as a life-giver. Should abortion be legalized?
The rationale for this question depends on individual perception and understanding of abortion. Some people believe that life begins when one is born while others believe that it begins when the mother and father mate and the sperm are conceived in the mother’s womb. This view is greatly accepted by pro-life people or the anti-abortionists (Gale 5). Due to this belief, many opposers argue that it's inhuman and unethical to murder an innocent God’s creation whichever the stage it would be. They term the surgical operation done in the womb as a brutal murder or inhumane.
On the opposition side, they tend to preserve the interest of the family and the mother in general. Many feel that it is not important to bring up a child over the years while the couple or the family as no ultimate desire to do so.
