Comparison Between Kindred Film and Novel
Different books written by Octavia have made up character roles where each wanted a different thing on the basic point. In most of her writings, she seems fascinated with the idea of slavery as it is a constant struggle between each party wanting independence and their insatiable hunger for power. The writer explores forced labor through a woman aware of modern American society and can travel back in time. This novel is saved from being another cliché in her book series by adding a hint of science fiction and not only talking about oppression. The aspect of science is not given much attention as most of the novel follows through the course of the relationship between Dana, an ebony time traveler from the twentieth century and Kevin, a Caucasian in the nineteenth century. Having been adapted into a film, a comparison between the book and movie yields given similarities and contrasts as they both have different creators.
