Misogynistic Rape Culture
In our world today, many women face rape and sexual abuse from men who think that the woman's dressing or appearance is a bother to them. Misogyny, in a nutshell, is viewed as the hatred and prejudice against women or girls in society. Society has made a mistake by conceptualizing Misogyny from the men's side of view rather than the victims' side. This view has led to a culture that always condemns a woman even when she is wrong.
One major contributor to rape in our today's world is Misogyny. Misogynistic talks sore some hostility towards women in the society. When a woman is raped in a misogynistic environment, she assumed that she did something to attract the man's attention. Little attention is usually given to the woman's side of the story.
To understand the main contributors of Misogyny in society, it is evident that Misogyny is not contributed by one primary factor but rather a combination of many factors that come together with time, leading to a misogynistic culture. The main element is the feministic ideas being floated by feminists, which tend to dismantle social norms' natural order. As a woman, whatever I do is not to be questioned by anyone, leads to many women living indecent lives. In retaliation, men start campaigning for Misogyny as a way to punish the feminists. From this point, we see that Misogyny is a ripple effect of different society members' actions.
Civilization has come to kill most of the cultures that held the society together. The cultural norms helped keep both genders in check. The conflict between modernity and culture has fueled the misogynistic rape culture in two significant ways. First, in an attempt to look civil most women look indecent, their choice of dressing leads to them tempting men, and unfortunately, the rape incident follows. This factor is not to support the ill act of rape instead to caution women. Secondly, civilization has come with lots of legal processes when prosecuting rape cases. A victim of misogynistic rape may not get justice because the police and judges are also proprietors of misogynistic ideas.
Misogynistic rape culture has advanced effects on society and the victims at large. The most common product is the psychological trauma that a victim goes through. Unfortunately, some victims go to the extent of committing suicide. Suicidal thoughts mostly accompany psychological trauma. When a victim of misogynistic rape is not well counselled, she might result in suicide because she might not have the legal backing to ensure justice is served. Misogyny also leads to women feeling inferior to men. This feeling leads to a male-dominated society hence losing the place of women in society. Due to the misogynistic culture, women are not considered to hold respected positions in society. Misogynistic ideas are creating a community built on anger and hatred towards the opposite sex. Every gender in culture feels like the other is a threat to its existence.
