Texas Constitution
Texas is an example of countries that have been against legalizing gambling. However, there has been a need to raise money for the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association (TWIA) that is said to be “broke”. The “brokenness” of TWIA, according to some people, can be solved by the House Joint Resolution that would play a significant part in amending the Constitution of Texas allowing Casino Gambling.
The author of the bill currently known as the House Joint Resolution (HJR) is Joe Deshotel. The bill number for this bill is thirty-six. The bill proposes the amendment of the constitution to authorize casino gaming in specific coastal areas in Texas ("Texas Legislature Online” n.p). By doing so, the bill has it that the challenge experienced by the TWIA will be solved. A number of reasons exist as to why every lawmaker and the citizens ought to support the bill. There are as well reasons as to why the bill ought not to be supported. To begin with, the reasons why the bill should be supported, one of the reasons is the fact that it would help to ensure that no money gets out of the country as a result of gambling. It is worth noting that, even though Casino gambling is not allowed in Texas that does not mean that people cannot gamble
