Comparing and Contrasting Treatment Approaches to Anxiety: Humanistic, Behavioral, and Cognitive
There are many different treatment approaches that psychologists use to treat various psychological conditions. Deciding which approach would be most appropriate for a given situation would depend on the perceived effectiveness of the said approach in handling the patient’s pre-existing condition.
When it comes to treating anxiety, a humanistic behavioral therapist would help Jake to develop an emotional and sensory awareness by being authentic and genuine and would also listen to his fears in classwork. The therapist could understand Jake’s thinking patterns and train him to have a positive perspective on the outcomes of his work in class.
On the other hand, cognitive therapy could be applied through an analysis of Jake’s thinking patterns and behaviors.
