The above players will benefit economically from this unfortunate engagement. They can thus agitate for military intervention even at the slightest provocation. Looking at the scenario in the long term, it would be advisable for the government to engage in non-combative tactics to end the crisis instead of engaging in war. There would be lots of saving of funds which can be diverted into other economically productive areas. One of the key functions of a sitting government is the provision of security and building infrastructure like roads, rails and canals among others (Powell 41). On the side of security, state agents should build capacity to gather intelligence and protect citizens from terrorist attacks. All these activities are funded using taxpayers money which demands for more prudent measures and accountability to limit illegal siphoning of public funds. The activities create jobs to citizens on top of their intended use. Good planners are supposed to stress on making sure that infrastructure is there and serves its intended purpose. Construction activities or the recruitment of intelligence officers should not be carried out on the sole basis of creating employment whereas no one will use them. Above all, it ensures income redistribution as the bulk of tax money comes from the well – to –do members of the society and the same will be used to pay wages to the laborers who mainly hail from the lower class (Hamilton 14). In the global economy, the private sector has a huge role to play. Some of the activities like retailing, manufacturing and financial services among can best be done by the private sector. State should limit itself to the provision of security and creation of enabling business environment (Spilsbury 27).
