At-risk individuals must be willing to do away with vices they used to enjoy having in order for the resources from Volunteers of America be able to effectively be of help to them. Specifically, for example, these individuals need to make themselves preoccupied with other activities and endeavors so they can stay away from the abuse of harmful drugs, tobacco, and alcohol. If at-risk individuals put an effort into combatting such elements’ presence in their lives, the volunteers can maximize their chances of being of help to the former. Government and private entities choose to make donations to causes that likely have favorable influences in their endeavors. These endeavors may be humanitarian, community, or personal mission endeavors.
