The images you choose to use for this assignment can be taken from the media (newspapers, magazines, etc.), the internet, digital libraries (ARTstor, JSTOR ), library books or journal articles. Make sure to properly cite the source of the image. You are required to include copies of all images discussed in your assignment (black & white photocopies are acceptable). Assignments not accompanied by reproductions of images will not be marked.

Introduction
Previous studies indicate that photographs or rather images are a significant source of valuable information in journalism and the entire media fraternity. Various studies show that visual images are easily recalled and over long periods as compared to words. Images have an inherent ability to stir people's values, feelings, as well as cognitions. The pre-existing opinions determine how the audience will perceive or interpret the image. Image is presented in a less complicated manner as compared to written words and thus are more appealing to high visualizers. As well, portraits are an essential tool for preserving historical occurrences and can form the basis for understanding the model. There exist iconic images that are mostly recognized and appreciated by most of the audience. For example, Nick Ut’s image, “Accidental Napalm," is an iconic photograph that the infamous Vietnam War given that the visualization of the little girl remains ingrained in our minds despite attempts to forget. The image raises various questions concerning the United States' molarity towards the war. Therefore, iconic photos are mostly recognized by the audience and are represent significant historical events. The iconic images are taken, preserved, and circulated by media elites (Lovelace, 2010). This paper seeks to critically analyze the iconic "The Tet Execution" as well as the Kent State Massacre images inclined towards analyzing the iconic photographs taken during the Vietnam War to gather more understanding of the historical occurrence.
