For the past few decades, the retail word has been doing market diversity. From small markets to large ones and now even online markets. These markets have been taking over the supply and demand of goods and services (Metters, Ketzenberg, Gillen, 2000). The belief is that the bigger the store the better it will be in terms of market share and profitability. This belief may not have much value considering that small stores have been found to share similar advantages compared to large stores. Small stalls are merited by the fact that they are easily accessible as compared to large stores. Additionally, consumers prefer to have a large variety of products rather than a broad variety of a product from different companies as is the case with large retail stores (Metters, Ketzenberg, Gillen, 2000). As much as the market stores grow, the consumer still has value for their mom-and-pop shops. This is not only because they have quality goods and services, but they express various traditions and hold their clients together on various occasions like Christmas (Metters, Ketzenberg, Gillen, 2000). Thus, with a few innovations, small stores such as mom-and-pop stores will be able to thrive in the market and make greater profits just like those of large store.
