Best Strategies Towards Creating Environments for Excellence in Nursing (Research Paper Sample)

Instructions:

C‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍reating Environments for Excellence in Nursing Writing Assignment Each student will complete an 800- to 1000-word paper (not including Title and References pages) presenting an evidence-based case for what they determine as two best strategies towards Creating Environments for Excellence in Nursing. The paper is to focus on the following themes, with each theme an APA heading. Proper use of headings will help to organize the paper and reinforce consistency for the reader. (Refer to pages 47-49, Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 7th Edition for formatting the levels of headings.) Organize the paper with the following topics: 1) Introduction Discuss the circumstances that contribute to unhealthy (nursing) work environments. Include current challenges faced by nurses and choose two viable strategies / opportunities for creating a supportive working environment that retains nurses while promoting safe, high-quality care. 2) _________________ State your first strategy or opportunity for change. Explain the reason you feel this is one viable strategy towards creating environments for excellence in nursing. Backed by evidence (make certain, of course, to cite and credit your sources) present the benefits of this strategy. Consider any potential threats to your specific strategy and present realistic, yet creative solutions to possible barriers. 3) _________________ State your second strategy or opportunity for change. 4) Summary or Conclusion Present final statements in a way that (yes) summarizes content; however, leaves the reader impressed. Make your best effort to avoid a ‘copy and paste’ approach to your summary. By posing a question or delivering a thought-provoking final statement, the reader will remain engaged and (ideally!) interested enough in your topic to research and explore further. Students are expected to address these topics by applying concepts and analytical understanding gained in a literature search of acceptable journal articles, videos or research and any assigned course readings. A minimum of five references should be used. Three of these sources should be from peer-reviewed articles. This assignment must be placed in your e-portfolio after corrected according to the professor’s suggestions and comments. See Rubric for Creating Environments for Excellence in Nursing Writing Assignment for complete grading criteria. There are citation formatting rules for your textbook that you have probably not encountered in any of your other classes. The textbook for this course is an edited book and the textbook chapters for this class are mostly reprinted articles; the citations are formatted differently. Refer to APA formatting guides for the appropriate citation of historical documents, edited texts, and chapters within edited texts. Assignments will be submitted through Turnitin which formulates and determines a Similarity Score. *Your Similarity Score should be no higher than 15% (meaning, no more than 15% of your paper should be found from online/other sources according to Turnitin’s calculations / report). If the Similarity Score is higher, revise / edit your paper to lower the Similarity Score below 15%. Your Similarity Score will be taken into consideration when calculating a final grade. Note: The instructor is able to see where you gathered your sources and if it is the case that you've used too much of another's work (previous student, author, researcher...) the instructor will contact you directly to revise your written assignment. A minimum of five references should be used. T‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍hree of these sources should be from a peer-reviewed article. Avoid the use of undated references. This document must be submitted using APA format. After the paper is graded, edit the paper and place it in your portfolio. CREATING A NURSING ENVIRONMENT
Introduction
Nurses render good services in hospitals if the work environment provides conditions that support the delivery of services. A positive work environment is vital in achieving employee and patient safety, the providence of quality care, and favorable patient outcomes. It is important to note that healthy work environments entail all the activities implemented to achieve the highest level of nurse well-being and productivity. However, while it is crucial to provide a healthy work environment for nurses, certain factors cause an unhealthy nursing environment. These factors include poor and unhealthy communication, toxicity in the workplace due to poor leadership and management, high turnover, discrimination and favoritism, and gossip, among others. An unhealthy nursing environment creates conflicts and affects the morality of nurses. Every nurse would like to work in a healthy environment, but sometimes lack of cooperation from others and inadequate resources limit their efforts in trying to create a healthy work environment. However, every problem has a solution, meaning certain strategies can be used to create a supportive work environment that retains nurses while promoting safe and quality health care.
