Research Paper: Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus (T1DM)
In most cases, T1D occurs when the individual's body experiences infections due to a weak immune system, which allows the destruction of the insulin (Redondo et al., 2018). The authors pointed out that, “Type 1 diabetes (T1DM), also known as insulin-dependent or juvenile diabetes, is an autoimmune disease which causes destruction of the insulin-producing beta cells in the pancreas, preventing the body from adequately regulating blood glucose levels” (Oakley et al., 2018, 1). Alternatively, diabetes disorders make the body unable to make enough insulin to limit blood sugar levels (Katsarou et al., 2017). Notably, the insulin hormone produced by the pancreas circulates in the bloodstream to consume glucose, which indeed happens due to an increase in the glucose level. Therefore, this study reviews literature from past studies about T1DM disease and its physical effects on children adults.
Problem Statement
Type 1 diabetes mellitus is one of the rampant metabolic diseases which give rise to high blood sugar among the individuals (Redondo et al., 2018). Notably, this health condition causes multiple complications, such as eye problems, leg, skin issues, psychosocial problems, kidney failure, heart attack, and hypoglycemia among people. For instance, Kuwait experienced several cases of T1D among the children, which resulted in physical inabilities. Disturbingly, society is giving this issue a thumb down and not putting into consideration its impacts assuming that it can be easily treated and eradicated. Moreover, the presence of unusually high blood sugar shows that a child has more ketoacidosis, which hinders children's growth and, at times, results in shortness (Shaltout et al., 2016). Alternatively, nearly all children with T1DM are subjected to puberty issues, thus making them unable to acquire good and usual physical development and growth (Oakley et al., 2018). This physical development and abnormalities, such as eye problem, leg, hand, and skin, affects their abilities in real-life situation applications, for example, the numbness in individual’s hands cannot allow them to handle objects.
Furthermore, prolonged T1DM disease causes mild impairments to individuals, however, such a problem can be dealt with if only the disorder is handled at its early stage. Notably, multiple scans towards patients were performed and subjected to t-tests in order to distinguish the differences between lumbar, pelvic DXA parameters.
Surprisingly, it was found that changes in the cortical and trabecular microarchitecture were influenced by the increase of T1DM (Devaraja et al., 2019). Yet, these research statistics and tests do not tend to warrant medical and societal attention to the type 1 diabetes mellitus disease among the victims. Therefore, there will be a necessity to go an extra mind by employing more fundamental research questions and incorporating the entire study methods. Consolidating of these methods and designs will be suitable to transversely cover the whole perspective of the T1DM disease ranging from its causes, symptoms and possible remedies
Research Methods and Methodology
Methods
The T1DM diagnosis will be established through the use of a systematic mechanism for eradicating the increase of this health disorder among children. The methodology will utilize several procedures and approaches essential to cover the T1DM impacts, such as eye damage and leg damage. Alternatively, the disease will depend on other scientific methods to address diverse social problems in the society caused by the T1DM disease. Observably, the research will employ statistical approaches pointing out the number of patients affected and the year in which this condition affected them. Therefore, T1DM, as the proposed topic, will be efficiently researched by employing qualitative research, which provides descriptive data regarding the impacts of type 1 diabetes mellitus in children and adults, especially to their physical abilities. However, data to be retrieved will rely on a secondary method of data collection and utilizes other main techniques for obtaining the intended data. Observably, this will involve document reviews as the central channel in finding case studies and documented research related to the impacts of T1DM. On the other hand, content analysis will be used, since it is one of the critical techniques significant for analyzing data before making conclusions.
Research Design and Approach
Undoubtedly, most of the diabetes diseases are complex and hard to be diagnosed explicitly through pathophysiology processes. For this reason, the proposed topic requires the researcher to adopt qualitative design having a deductive approach, which is based on general conclusions. By so doing, the study will implement and apply the literature review methodology
by accurately analyzing a couple of articles that will pave the way for obtaining research gaps concerning the impacts of T1DM on the physical abilities of children and adult groups. In contrast, the literature review methodology is less costly and thus crucial for providing the desired solutions about the impacts of T1DM among the individuals.
Research Procedure and Data Analysis
Narrowly, the study will use a quantitative research method where 22 patients aged 12 to 16 years will be the research subjects. Additionally, several medical practitioners will be required to scrutinize the possible causes and impacts of the disease. These research characters provide information concerning the significance of the study after a certain period after it is gathered from different academic sources. These sources will equip researchers with secondary data concerning the children and those at the adolescent stage that are victims of the T1DM. Mainly, the use of mixed methods for the examination of data will be essential for interpreting or deriving the meaning from the collected information on the T1DM study topic. Extensively, utilizing mixed research methods will likely guarantee credible results that will be used to address the effects of T1DM. Also, the researchers ought to involve practitioners who act as a breakthrough in collecting insightful information for minimizing the spread of T1DM. Therefore, in the pursuit to ensure perceptive findings, the study should focus on a diverse population affected by the disease rather than dwelling only on children.
Luckily, this study will opt to utilize content analysis to provide lasting solutions to the issue of T1DM regarding psychosocial impacts, poor growth, and development among the children. Identically, content analysis will be used to make comparatives from various past and current studies mainly on T1DM and provide a general conclusion on how to curb this condition. Similarly, ethics will be given priority, especially when reviewing past studies, for example, from Google scholar, JSTORE, Journal articles, and Wiley. The study will ensure any borrowed information from the prior mentioned previous studies utilized for this research will be given credit by providing several citations.
