For the American population to enjoy optimal health, the federal government must ensure that there is access to quality healthcare services that is effectively supported by a strong public health system. Although the US health care system is unique among industrialized countries, there is no universal healthcare and lacks uniformity in delivery. Recently, the federal government enacted legislation that mandates healthcare coverage for everyone. Through a comprehensive research on healthcare delivery system, this research will identify an emerging health care regulation that is structured to reform the system and its effects on nursing care, patient outcomes, nursing leadership and emerging trends in health care.
