Abstract
The methodology section of this paper seeks to present the steps used to search for relevant materials that will be used for the current study. The researcher identified key databases that publish materials in mental health, psychology, pediatrics, and nursing and used a combination of keywords and phrases to access important articles. The search process was carried out in three phases to ensure that the materials were effectively critiqued. During the first stage, the words used to search for the sources include adolescents, children randomized control trials, behavioral parent training, parent-child interaction therapy, and oppositional defiant disorders. To prevent the exclusion of vital materials, the keywords and phrases were combined during each search based on the available options presented by the databases. During the second stage, various inclusion and exclusion criteria were used to exclude articles that were published pre-2010 and those whose participants were aged over 19 years. At the last stage of the search, the investigator utilized various critiquing tools (the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis and Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials checklists) to determine the usefulness of the materials in answering the PICO question. After a thorough search, a total of 6 peer-reviewed articles were chosen and included in the current study.
