Dyslexia is a neurodevelopmental learning-based disorder that impedes with a person's capability to read, spell, and pronounce words (Peterson & Pennington, 2012). Dyslexic children may experience unexpected challenges in speech awareness, including reading smoothly, word memory, and spelling. The extent of disability differs from one individual to another depending on the manifestation and interceding. Dyslexia is a condition, not a disease; therefore, it has no cure implying that those associated with it will be affected throughout their lives. Through specialized programs, a child can succeed in school where emotional support is integral to success. This research aims at providing a transparent perspective on the various factors associated with dyslexia.
Symptoms
Dyslexia becomes more evident among children when they begin school. Identifying the disease before children join school may be tricky. According to Eden et al. (2015), the seriousness of the problem will be portrayed by the symptoms noted. The parents might be able to notice various signs of dyslexia earlier before starting school. These signs include low speech development, slow learning of new words, difficulty remembering or naming letters (Handler, 2016). Usually, children read well below their respective age and grade, but with dyslexic, it is different; for example, a fourth-grader will read like a first-grader. Risk factors like low weight during birth, premature birth, and exposure of the fetus's brain to drugs and narcotics may contribute to dyslexia.
Managing dyslexia
Particular measures can help diagnose dyslexia. According to Duane (2001), these measures include testing reading and academic skills, psychological testing, neurological testing, questionnaires, educational issues, and medical history. Dyslexia is a lifelong problem, and only through management strategies can help relieve the burden.
Education techniques are by far the most effective. In this case, the dyslexic child is provided with unique education approaches and techniques that will help boost their understanding of words and sounds.
