Introduction
The early history of America begins with the journey of Christopher Columbus in 1492, when he first discovered the lands of America along with the residing few Native people. These indigenous American Indians were considered to be a vital component of the society of the United States. Soon after 1600, the colonial culture began to start with the arrival of the European colonists from England, Spain, and France.
However, the most important event that occurred during this time was the American Civil War. The American Civil War broke out and secession started that consists of a series of events occurred in the early 18th century. 11 states of South made their ties severe with the Union and a confederation of these states was made with a parallel government running with its capital at the Virginia.[Campo-Flores Arian, “Keeping Obama to His Word,” Newsweek 156, no. 23(2010): 36-38.]
Background
It is believed that, the contribution of the Blacks during the Civil War has been remarkable. As per the historical records, there had been in total 186,097 Blacks participated during this war. Out of this, there were about 7,122 officers and 178,975 were soldiers, sailors, and other army participants.
There were about 163 different black units who served in the United States Army during this civil war. The history nicknames this army as the Union Army, and they were not only recruited for this particular war, but they were also recruited for several other subsequent war events (Barratt, 2009). They were then organized into United States Colored Troops in order to strengthen the Northern Side of the nation from the military perspective.
