CAUSES AND CONSEQUENCES OF ACID RAIN
Acid rain is the wider term that is used to refer to forms of precipitation with acidic portions like sulphuric or nitric acid that falls to the ground from the atmosphere in either wet or dry forms. This may include rain, snow, fog, hail, or even dust that is acidic. The acid rain problem that everyone encounters today clearly shows one thing particularly, and that is, finding new ways or means and approaches that will enable us to defend and protect ourselves, as well as the environment, from the continuous pollution and devastation caused by acid rain. Acid is no longer just an aberration that resulted from the choice of civilization (Yadav, 2012). Over the last years and decades, acid deposition had increased steadily and has become one of the core topics being studied by various researchers and scientists around the globe. It has also gained wide media coverage. The acidification of both land and water has reached a drastic point wherein it needs immediate measures and solutions coming from the governments in various countries. It was even mentioned that acid rain had become one of the most, "or perhaps, the worst environmental threat" (Yadav, 2012) that hit the planet earth. This is an ongoing catastrophe that has not only a bigger environmental hazard but also a new face of issues and concerns that might affect the future of the planet earth. The Swedish Ministry of Agriculture even mentioned that life on earth would cease if no solution can be applied to this great moral and environmental issue that subjected most of us.
