Introduction
The US government, through the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) wishes to involve individuals, families, communities, professionals, policymakers, and organizations in a multi-level effort to improve health outcomes by improving health literacy. The plan comprises of seven goals with each targeting to achieve a particular outcome that will contribute towards the broader objective (Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion US Department of Health and Human Services, 2010). Particularly, the study will focus on the improvement of healthcare literacy on breast cancer among minority women.
Background and Justification for Research
Minority groups are regarded as lacking the same opportunities as other groups hence putting them at elevated risks of failing to acquire basic health and human services. For example, limited financial opportunities lead to minimized chances of quality education, employment, health, and overall living standards.
