Introduction
Between the year 1861 and 1865, the United States of America experienced a civil war. The war was as a result of simmering tension between northern and southern states. Some of the things that were escalating the tension between the northern and southern states were an issue concerning slaves and slavery, slave rights and westward expansion. In 1860 the United States of America elected Abraham Lincoln as their president. After Lincoln became the president seven states in the southern part came together and formed the Conference States of America. The 1861 civil war of 1861 in the US has been declared as the deadliest civil war to ever occur in the US soil. The war claimed 2.4 million soldiers and scores succumbed to injuries.
The 1861 US civil war came at a time when the United States of America was doing great economically. The conflict that existed between the northern and southern states was a clear indication that there was a need for strengthening the bond between the US states. Before, the civil war occurred no one had thought such a war would happen in the US and this is why after the war the US government had a bigger task of coming up with a united nation. Even though the 1861 civil war was traumatizing, there were good things the United States of America gained from the war. After the war, it was clear that if a strong central government was not to be developed a similar war would occur in the future.
