Detailed Instructions For the assignment you should follow the steps below: Formulate a thesis about the persuasive effect of your speech in terms of how it contributes to the exercise of political power and/or the reproduction of dominant ideologies or structures of inequality in society. To support your thesis: Describe the social context of your speech, including the situational, cognitive and process circumstances of the speech, as well as its broader institutional, sociopolitical, and historical context. Identify and analyze the textual features of the speech that contribute to the reproduction of shared mental representations of the world, and the actors, events and objects in it. Interpret and critically evaluate the persuasive effect of the speech. Write an essay in which you present your critical analysis. Format You should present your criticism in a paper 5-7 pages in length. It should be in essay format with an introduction and thesis statement, body paragraphs containing your analysis, and a conclusion reiterating your thesis. Include a printed copy of the rhetorical act you are analyzing or provide a link to where it can be accessed online.
