Relationship- based care has been implemented through the assistance of Re-igniting the Spirit of Caring (RSC), which has proven to be an educational program that has heightened caring tendencies and enhanced nursing and patient satisfaction.
Caring behaviors such as knowledgeable nurses, positive tonal variation, eye contact, attention, offering assurances, and interest in knowing people; were all important verbal and nonverbal traits among the nurses (Glembocki et al., 2013). Nurses who treated families and patients with compassion and dignity, not seemingly fatigued, being honest and straightforward, being present and attentive, as well as offering visitors food and drink are all positively correlated to patient and family satisfaction.

Szumlas (2013) reiterates that this mindset develops role awareness among nurses which enables them overlook hourly tasks and focus on the professional nursing roles that are vital and necessary to every patient’s care, thus increasing accountability for calculated care planning, interdepartmental communication, and teamwork for enhanced efficiency and performance of the entire nursing care.
Ultimately, enhanced strategies for teamwork for nurse managers may entail such options as standardized shift times, or dividing nursing teams to form smaller gatherings that improve communication and enhance work pattern by either: shift, week day, or demographics (Glembocki et al., 2013). Enhancing common goals clarity and introducing recognition system is critical in celebrating personal and team success tagged to unit activities.
