An HNA Protocol for Health Issue in a Community in Nigeria
Introduction
The core objective of primary health care is to offer accessible health to every individual in Nigeria. In connection to that, the government implemented a policy in 2000 that would ensure every member of the community is in a position to access healthcare services. However, almost two decades later there seems to be no progress since most of the primary health care centers remain unused. This is despite the many challenges facing health care in Nigeria. According to estimations by World Health Organizations, there are over 500,000 deaths from malaria alone in Africa (Andrew, 2014). Most of the deaths are said to be from Nigeria. Historically, infectious diseases such as Cholera and Measles were the major causes of death. However, with the introduction of immunizations as well as antibiotics most of the diseases have been contained (Udoudo, Umoh, and Akpaeti, 2016). Irrespective of the success in controlling infectious diseases Nigeria has had challenges in controlling Malaria. In 2010 it failed to meet its Millennium Development Goal of halving the burden of Malaria in Abuja. Apart from Abuja, different states in Nigeria have different magnitudes of malaria infection.
