Canada’s healthcare system has gone through several transformations over the years. The reforms and modifications that Canadians have made on their healthcare system reflect how they value equity and fairness in resource distribution (Bryant, 2016). Today, the system’s focus is on the needs of patients more than on their ability to pay for their health care services. The publicly funded system is characterized by universal coverage for the required health care services. Finances for this system come from revenues that the federal, territorial, and provincial governments collect from taxes like personal taxes, corporate taxes, payroll levies, among others. Also, more funding comes from health premiums that the provincial government charges their residents. However, those who do not pay health premiums can still access the required health care services.
