“We can do these guys, come on!” shouted Coach Alex.
“Success is on our side!” screamed the cheer members.
“True, I feel the sweet smell of success in the air” replied Coach Alex.
The cheers from the crowd were deafening. We were just minutes away from a famous victory. Our opponents were our archrivals for decades. They had beaten us in our last four encounters. For us, this was not just any victory, it was sweet revenge. They were quite strong but our resolve and resilience made us stronger. Despite all the cheers and noises, I could hear my heart pounding. It was in our hands but it was not over yet, not until the last second. “We have come this far, just one more run and it’s ours”, I said out loud to myself. A few minutes later, our captain made a memorable run to the home plate. The whole field erupted in wild cheers. We had finally done it after five long years of waiting. It is the hardest game I have ever played. As we basked in glorious victory, we forgot our pain, our tired muscles, our struggles, and our sacrifices.
