A PERSONAL STATEMENT
Ever since I was a child, I have always wanted to become a Medical Doctor. My grandfather is a doctor as well as both of my parents. As I went through the education ladder, my mind was focused on becoming a Physician. However, as I mature, I learned that medicine is very diverse and is spread out into many different fields. After long hours of deep thinking and consultation, I have decided to tread the path less travelled. I want to become the Five-Star Physician.
The World Health Organization first envisioned the Five-Star Physician concept wherein a Physician is a Clinician, Academician, Manager, Social Mobilizer and Researcher. Ever since learning of this concept, I have never stopped in achieving this goal. As a matter of fact, I am now a Medical Student in the Adventist University of the Philippines, an international institution in my country. I joined several organizations and ran for different positions both inside and outside school. I also honed my skills outside the four walls of the classroom such us my music and community service. I also founded an charity organization so that at a young age, I could help and inspire others. And of course, despite all of this, I made sure that I do well in school and aim to finish my degree. But I wanted to learn more and develop myself further. I wanted a Global perspective but at the same time, local in affect. This drove me to look for a Summer Programme that would be very beneficial in the achievement of my goals. That program is the Revolutions in Biomedicine of Imperial College.
