What are cataracts?
Cataract is an eye problem, it is either in one eye or sometimes in both eyes. If cataracts occur in both the eyes then it cause difficulty to see clearly. Normally, light is passed from our eyes and reflects on objects so that we can see them clearly but when cataracts occur, patients feel difficulty to see because cataracts stop light from reflecting, making vision blur and non clear. It is same as looking through a mirror which is painted in light white color.
Some types of cataracts:
* A Sub-capsular cataract: This type of problem occurs at the back of lens. People having diabetic problems or those who take high steroids are likely to come across sub-capsular cataract
* Nuclear cataract: This happen in the central part of the nucleus of lens. This type of cataract usually occur because of aging
* Cortical cataract: This type of cataract occurs in the periphery of the lens and is characterized using white opacities that make their way to the centre in spoke manner. More specifically, this type of cataract occurs in cortex of the lens, which is the part of lens around the nucleus.
Common symptoms of cataract
A cataract occurs slowly and starts affecting the eye until it make it worse. People with cataract have blur vision and when they are fully covered up in this issue, the vision becomes like seeing through a blurry glass.
Cataract makes it difficult to go in sun because it will feel like too bright or glaring effect. People may also feel difficulty to see regular light bulb, car headlights becomes too bright to look at and color of things may look like different.
There are different effects cataract causes and with each person it is a difficult and different experience. Symptoms among people are similar but they regulate according to the condition, type of the cataract and visions.
How is the surgery performed?
There are different treatments that doctor prescribe and looking at the situation anyone might have a problem that can be solve without going through many medical procedures. A common cataract removal using laser treatment can take following treatments to remove cataracts.
* The initial process is to create a corneal incision so that surgeon can move towards lens for cataract removal
* The second stage of the treatment is to remove anterior capsule from the lens
