Introduction
Ethical values are very important in the healthcare sector. Ethics are the moral principles that govern people's actions and intentions in any sector. Each person has its own sets of ethics or moral principles. Ethics within the healthcare sector are very important as it recognizes one’s decision making power and health care dilemmas. To maintain integrity nurses must follow some rules and regulations within the healthcare sector.
The Code of Ethics guides the nurses in performing their daily duties according to the integrity of their profession. These principles play a key role in ensuring a patient's safety and care.
1) Autonomy
Each patient has the right to make its own decision based on their beliefs and values. The nurse can encourage patients to make their own decisions but without any interference from the nurse. The person has the right to refuse any medical treatment or surgery and the nurse must respect their decision.
