Among the most important characteristics of a successful organization is teamwork or collaboration. For this reason, I have chosen to read the article by Alex Kowtun entitled “How mastering teamwork will make your organization successful” for Forbes magazine. The article is an excellent source of tips on how to build teamwork and collaboration in every initiative that involves working in groups.
I chose the article for its useful recommendations on how to promote teamwork and collaboration within an organization. I think this is an important knowledge one can easily apply in any kind of undertaking ranging from one’s professional life to academics. In particular, the article discusses how groups such as the United States Airforce Thunderbirds has been able to perform their aerial routine with top precision. The author found out that teamwork and collaboration are more important than the individual skills of the pilots. I have learned from the article that teamwork and collaboration are driven by respect for every member of the group regardless of his or her contribution. I have also discovered that another important driver of teamwork and collaboration within the organization is the realization of the group’s general goal. This will enable every member to work towards a similar objective despite the differences in their individual tasks.
