Difference between the Types of Healthcare Facility Designs
The doctor’s office is designed to attend to many patients at once. It involves a patient waiting area, a front desk for the patients to report when they arrive, an office for the specialist, a bathroom, and several patients’ rooms. A doctor’s office differs from a general clinic because a clinic does not have a physician's office or patient room. Alternatively, it has exam rooms, consult rooms, men’s and women’s restrooms, a waiting area, and a lab area. Conversely, specialty clinics have patient rooms. Unlike the doctor’s office and the clinic, the birthing center facility is much simpler. It is a room designed to offer a comfortable birth setting for the mother, the baby, and the extended family (Reijula et al., 2017). Generally, they are separate buildings, although some are attached to a hospital. The birthing facility has private rooms with soft lighting, showers, a kitchen, and whirlpool tubs.
Types of Inpatient and Outpatient Facilities.
Inpatient care outlines treatments and processes that require doctors and other medical specialists’ observation of the patient over some days. Patients stay at inpatient care facilities overnight. Inpatient care facilities include acute care facilities, rehabilitation centers, a psychiatric hospital, and many others. Acute care facilities deliver inpatient medical care for short-term illness and critical conditions and surgery services for injuries. Psychiatric hospitals offer inpatient care to ease suicidal dangers and provide treatment in a safe atmosphere for patients with brain injury, extreme depression, and other mental illnesses.
Outpatient care is any medical process that does not necessitate a patient to stay overnight. Outpatient care facilities include clinics, emergency rooms, and ambulatory surgery centers.
