Introduction
The article about the telephone-follow-up for the patients suffering from the breast cancer after treatment was a descriptive study. The test aimed to detect the effectiveness of the telephone follow-up as a method to be employed for the treatments requiring further patient follow-up. In addition, the research wished to establish the level of satisfaction and the treatment outcome of the various treatment methods performed on the breast malignancy patients (Beaver, Williamson & Chalmers, 2010).
Critique Review of the Article
The study employed a randomized and controlled clinical trial with the breast cancer patients selected from predetermined hospitals. The study entailed 28 former breast malignant patients and 4 healthcare specialist nurses in the breast cancer patient-care. The sampling criteria included all the patients in the selected clinic whose contacts were available for the study. However, the predetermined selection of the hospitals and the selection of the 4 breast cancer nursing specialists limited the external validity of the experiment. The selected clinic may not have represented the general situation depicted in all the healthcare providers in the US (Long, 2001). The aspects that were being tested by the research were the level of satisfaction and the treatment outcome established through the telephone follow-up.
