Advanced practice nurses are medical practitioners who have obtained advanced training and certification (Hamric, HansonTracy & O'Grady, 2013). They are often referred to as physician extenders or advanced medical providers and may include certified nurse-midwives, nurse anesthetists and clinical nurse specialists. They are tasked with providing direct care to those seeking medical services, participating in various nursing administration roles, developing and implementing health care policy, and managing patients' care. In this essay, different advanced practice nurse (ANP) and the rationale for choosing a certified nurse practitioner (CNP) have been pointed out and discussed. Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) Roles
