Introduction
Marijuana is becoming more and more legal across the United States. While this change has brought many benefits, it has also raised several questions. For instance, one research discovered that cannabis might improve the life quality for those with rheumatoid arthritis and other conditions and also found that marijuana was able to reduce symptoms of multiple sclerosis. Patients who use marijuana, for example, may take fewer painkillers overall. It has been demonstrated that medical marijuana helps cancer patients live better lives (Savage et al., 2016). It has been shown, for instance, that patients' pain levels can be decreased by medicinal marijuana. However, there are also risks associated with marijuana use. For example, marijuana can increase the risk of developing schizophrenia. A recent study published in The Journal of Pain showed that marijuana was “effective and tolerable” for managing persistent pain. A randomized clinical trial was used in the investigation in which patients who had failed to respond to opioid therapy were given either marijuana or a placebo (Savage et al., 2016). Additionally, marijuana can increase the risk of developing car accidents. Patients and their families should know these risks and decide what is best for them.
