Introduction
The transtheoretical model has been widely used to promote positive behavioral changes in healthcare. The model is implemented in sequential stages. These include pre-contemplation and contemplation (where individuals are unaware and unwelcoming to change). These are the first two stages where appropriate education is carried out with the aim of shaping the attitudes of individuals positively as far as adopting intended change is concerned. The subsequent steps are preparation and action (positive attitudes and action towards change). The last step is maintenance. During this stage, the change process has been successful, and the focus is on reinforcing it (Hashemzadeh et al., 2019).
