What is Coronavirus?
It is a novel disease in the family of coronavirus and has been identified as the cause of respiratory infection in human being. The disease registered an outbreak in China in December 2019. Symptoms include difficulty in breathing, dry cough, sore throat and running nose. Although the symptoms resemble a common cold, this virus can be deadly if the symptoms progress to severe respiratory distress. Right now, although there has been a lot of clinical tests and studies for a potential cure, there’s no treatment approved yet, for this pandemic infection.
Where did it start? What is “wet market”? and reaction.
According to the studies made by Professor Gabriel Leung, the same man who led the fight against severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), humans get infected by the virus typically via contact with an infected animal. Scientists have found that this came from bats, which are the “common carrier” of the virus. According the article “Everything You Should Know About the 2019 Coronavirus and COVID-19”, although they do not transmit coronavirus directly to human, this may happen via a medium animal.
As the case goes massive, reports claiming that the flare-up is caused by the wet market in Wuhan, China; where wild animals smuggled from across world sat in cages, or being slaughtered and sold. This market has been later on closed in January, 2020.
