Interpersonal collaboration in healthcare

Introduction
We all know that how much is teamwork necessary in all kinds of fields and especially in the field of healthcare. The individuals have to rely on others to reinforce their work and achieve their goals. Here comes the concept of interpersonal collaboration and it is defined as when multiple people from different fields work together with patients to deliver the highest quality care. It involves interpersonal communication among team members to achieve a common goal. If the team professionals do not collaborate then there is a risk of errors and low-quality work. So effective teamwork can help to reduce errors and improve outcomes.
Characteristics of interprofessional teamwork
1) Mutual trust and support
Trust builds as team members start to recognize each other like their skills, competencies, and attitudes and this is very important. The individual who trusts is willing to share their knowledge and skills among others. So, this is very important in the healthcare unit.
2) Flexibility In relationships
It involves developing an open attitude like willing to work with different people and knowing their skills and knowledge. It involves understanding each other.
3) Sharing knowledge and expertise
The effective team is that which shares its knowledge and skill to achieve good quality results. There are people from different fields in a team and if each one shares its knowledge then it can help in better care of patients and good results.
4) Effective leadership
The leader is very important for an effective team. It reflects the stage of development. The leader should be such that who support the team's vision and listen to each one’s problems. Now new healthcare leaders are incorporated to achieve patient satisfaction.
5) Having a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities
It is very much emphasized to have a team with a clear vision which means each one should have a clear understanding of each one’s views. It helps to resolve conflicts. There should be clear and measurable team goals. Then the healthcare team should identify patient goals and link with the team to achieve success.
