The health state of men is associated with the nature of the social group as well as the financial opening in society. There is a notable difference in men’s health trends. These differences are not biologically inevitable by the are shaped and facilitated by the social arrangements. More often, when men are exposed to stress, they tend to be more susceptible compared to women. Aside to this, there are other determinants of men’s health. these are; biology and genetics, social economic status, occupational status, unemployment, psychophysiology, men’s knowledge about health as well as common views about the machismo just to mention a few (Courtenay 2003).
Biology and genetics are responsible for resulting in a number of sex-specific complications that will lead to personal stress in the individual man who is affected. Such disorders include erectile dysfunction. another determinant is the men’s economic state. The financial status of men has a great implication for their health state. Men are mostly associated with risk occupations that pose to the health hazard such as occupational injuries (Courtenay 2003). Most men who are unemployed suffer from great health implications such as stress, tension, and depression. This makes unemployment to be one of the key determinants of men’s health.
