Nurses’ Policy and Legislation Influence in Healthcare
Health policies are laws and regulations formed to help in achieving a specific healthcare goal within a society. These policies advocate for streamline healthcare services and improved patient care and safety. Policies prohibiting the use of alcohol and other hard drugs in the workplace, and policies requiring foods be served at company meetings are some of those health related policies. Legislation, on the other hand, is laws that determine the nurse's legal duties and responsibilities. They are responsible for nurses' licensing and determining those who are competent to practice nursing (Bastani et al., 2018). They ensure that nurses function within the set legal policies, professional practice, and practice settings.
