Undoubtedly, the eight-week course has been enjoyable and informative. Regardless of the amount of work involved, I have gained valuable experience. As a result, I am confident to succeed in my profession by utilizing the knowledge and skills gained in this period.
I have fulfilled the program outcome#1 through every encounter with patients. However, there are instances in which safe, high-quality, and patient-centered care based on holistic principles were explicitly attained when patients came to be tested for Covid-19. As I communicated with some of the patients, it was apparent that they feeling stressed because of the disease-related issues, and I delicately engaged them. Some of the patients became comfortable and shared their fears about the various aspects of the disease, such as possible financial constraints and treatment after establishing a client-nurse relationship (Akpotor & Johnson, 2018). In addition, being a new disease, none of the patients were psychologically prepared to encountering it, and they were likely to be depressed if tested positive for Covid-19. By the time they were leaving, I had managed to educate them on ways to be safe from the disease and encouraged them to pursue counseling if feeling depressed. Eventually, they were relieved to realize that there is somebody who cares and readily available to help (Strandås & Bondas, 2018). To a great extent, it was a delightful feeling to provide a holistic care while ensuring that the safety of the patients was addressed and follow up was performed, if needed. Such encounters inspire me to perform my work correctly.
