Risk Management Programs
Every facility or company encounters risk at one point or another. The risks may either be external or internal, but how the facility manages the risks shows how well they are organized. Healthcare facilities are not left out. Initially, risk management programs were meant to protect the hospital and doctors from work-related lawsuits, ("3 Main Elements of Risk Management in Healthcare You Need to Know", n.d.). Hospitals go through various challenges in their day to day activities. Therefore, they have different risk management programs which help to smoothen these activities. This paper will focus on the shortage of workers in the hospital as a risk management program, as these institutions need a proper, standard, and running workforce, without which they face the risk of collapse and even foreclosure.
The hospital is always flooded with patients, both outpatients, and inpatient. It is making its workforce a large one. All these patients need someone or an expert to attend to them. Right from the reception, being booked in, seeing the doctor, up to the point they arrive at the pharmacy for their prescriptions. One should also not forget the efforts of those who strive to maintain the cleanliness of the facility, for it is not only doctors and nurses in the hospital building. Clean floors, walls, and even clean sheets. What if at one point the facility is shorthanded in their workforce?
