Exhibiting Leadership in the Workplace
To demonstrate leadership at work, one must set a good example for others to follow. A leader who accomplishes a positive performance or success gets the respect and appreciation of their followers and unintentionally alters their values, ideologies, attitudes, and behavior (Hao & Yazdanifard, 2015). So, an individual’s capability to affect or alter the person’s attitudes, values, beliefs, and behavior is referred to as a leadership (Ganta & Manukonda, 2014). To exhibit leadership in the workplace, one demonstrates a clear vision, communicates and listens, allocates resources, shows empathy, and helps others grow.
An effective leader sets clear expectations for their team members, inspires commitment to their work, and encourages collaboration to achieve the targets and goals of the firm. This implies that efficient leaders usually have a defined organization’s vision, and they can swiftly determine the issues and constraints between them and the firm’s objectives (Hao & Yazdanifard, 2015). In doing so, they may keep abreast of current developments in the business field and adopt the needed enhancements that will guide the firm into the future.
A leader should be able to communicate and listen to the employees. Without good communication, it is challenging for a business to make decisions and solve problems. Additionally, communication aims to convey meaning rather than only facts. Having a plan or direction in mind does not matter a lot if a leader cannot persuade people to support it by explaining its significance and worth (Kolzow, 2014). An effective leader understands that engagement between followers and leaders must be two-way to be successful.
Also, a leader may encourage workplace development by allocating resources. Resources are crucial in lowering burnout and stress. The volume of work, authority, rewards, community, impartiality, and ethics are six aspects of work life that might be possible causes for burnout (Jiménez et al., 2017). A workplace that promotes health may be accomplished by decreasing incompatibilities between person and company in these six categories. According to Gurt et al. (2011), participating in health promotion is positively correlated with how the employees appreciate the resources available to them at work, and this improves their performance.
.To exhibit leadership in the workplace is to show empathy. To demonstrate to their employees that they are concerned about their issues and are sensitive to others, leaders must possess empathy. Several experts agree that emotional intelligence, including empathy, is essential for becoming a successful leader. Work performance has a good relationship with empathy (Gentry et al., 2007). Because they can successfully establish and sustain relationships and networks, a crucial component of managing companies, empathetic leaders benefit their enterprises.
Furthermore, a leader works to help others grow. Growing the next leaders in their company is one of the things that only leaders can do. Only a leader can guide others while placing them in demanding and novel work environments. To encourage learning through experience, leaders must be skilled at acting as a mentor or advisor, an instructor at the workplace as a nugget of wisdom, and—most importantly—as an example (Kolzow, 2014). Even though learning is an individual’s experience, leadership within a company may promote a learning atmosphere that motivates others to benefit from their encounters.
In conclusion, to exhibit leadership in the workplace
