Time management is very significant to people since it is strategic planning of your time availability and controlling the necessary amount of time you have to spend on a specific task to work efficiently and effectively. To help you be more productive and have a better work-life balance, an individual should apply time management techniques through the use of technology. Nowadays, people are often dependent on technologies in which no one can even dispute the countless benefits that technology provided to people since it has undoubtedly allowed us to improve, perform, and leverage our resources. However, technology-infused lives have their downsides where the engaging aspects of digital technologies can sap our time and attention.
Technology's biggest role is saving our valued time and effort making it simplify our lives. Also, the technology-driven tools help us in enhancing our overall productivity and efficiency. However, technology usage is not constantly boon or beneficial but sometimes can be a bane. The first step towards effective time management is planning which helps you prioritize and organize your daily track of tasks. Fortunately, various technology applications can be used for this purpose. Managing time with technology has numerous benefits since it comes with schedulers, reminders, and some helpful features that help you keep track of what you planned. Technology applications such as internet search engines, online shopping services enable us to summon in a few clicks the information and tools we need to be productive. Also, online maps and real-time translation services can help us with the navigation of unfamiliar places and communicate with the locals.
Digital technologies can quantify former unquantifiable aspects of life which yield insights into how the time has been spent that can be beneficial not only at work but also on a personal level. However, most people are lost in the shackles of technology distractions instead of being focused and time-bound mainly because the time gained used in technology gets wasted due to some activities like chatting, browsing, social networking, and gaming.
The aforementioned are habitual activities that are occurring nowadays but the problem arises when they expand to fill productive time which results in reduced productivity and poor time management. Hence, the technology’s biggest issue is that it can be the causation of distraction which leads to wasted valuable time. These days, technology applications such as the internet interfere with time management. Some ways includes an altered sense of time where internet usage distort our sense of time, repetitive working where the internet encourages doubles your work, poor searching due to poor search behavior which takes time, lack of concentration since the more internet usage the less capable you become in work concentration and also hampers your ability to remember things, and lastly, sleep deprivation due to oftentimes checking of messages late at night which leads to incapability to make
