Human Resources Management (HRM) Reflection on Exam Student Name Institutional Affiliations Date #My Score: 38/70 Reflection Statement In the PHR Practice Exam, the questions which I got correct out of the first 70 were 38 which are keyed in as follows: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 20 22 24 26 27 32 33 36 39 40 42 44 46 48 49 50 51 55 58 60 61 62 64 64 66 67 69 and 70. Feelings on content: I have quite great appreciation on the whole content of the test. I am now in a better place of understanding that proper management in HR in alignment with the policies of the workplace are important in keeping up with the appropriate protective measures as well as implementation for the purpose of offering solutions among members and teams as well as avoiding risk for workers and the organization at large. Prior to the test I was in a state of longing and craving towards understanding particular HR concepts which the test has very well brought out. After the test, I feel settled, in relief and in contentment after understanding such important content in its rightful context such as lagging indicators, need to avoid anchoring bias, how to use forecasting in planning, the need to align personal goals to organizational objectives in order to achieve cascading goals as well as other concepts like modular organizational structure, ROI and Incentive pay. Past Training: My past training on the different HR facets leading to this exam was inclusive of workplace safety, compliance, training and development of workers to achieve their full potential, compensation and employee benefits as well as managing talents. The training was so helpful in understanding workforce management and planning. Efforts on attracting and retention must solely be based on top talents. Technical, quality, soft skills, team and managerial trainings on HR practice have also been very healthy and helpful in producing a holistic HR professional in me. Although to some extent the exam was kind of overwhelming because some concepts where relatively new, I am challenged that I do not have to settle in only what is conventionally taught and instead I must remain agile and upfront with emerging trends and issues as well as being patient to learn some things experientially and from different other sources. Further, while, HR training is only aimed at teaching professionals on immediate applicable knowledge, attitudes and skills to be applied in the workplace, I realized that I cannot be settled because there is so much to know in the HR profession and there is no end to learning in this field because it is highly practical and it has to be matched with emerging trends. I realized I need more training in different areas such as Griggs Vs. Duke case concept, ADA requirements, in and out-sourcing, judgmental forecasts, employee transfers, talent management, interventions on trainings, task analysis, instructional design, performance-based systems, willful violators, insurance premiums etc. My knowledge and understanding of HR: HR describes the entire human factor in an organization. It emphasizes on attracting, hiring and retention of employees, managing them and offering them a sense of direction on achieving set goals. HR oversees issues touching on the welfare of people within an organization Others issues handled in the HR area include disciplinary, grievances, staff development, employee motivation and satisfaction, appraisal in performance, organizational development etc. HR management being a all-inclusive and tactical approach, it also entails creating an environment where a certain culture thrives.
