The main aim of this paper is to use situational leadership theory to analyze a scenario where one day I was given a task of motivating the employees of a health facility due to the strike they were conducting claiming that their salaries had been delayed. As a result of this I had to to be given an opportunity to motivate the employees and teach then on what processes they could have taken to solve the situation. Situational leadership will be used to critically analyze the scenario and be at a position to plan how I will further develop my leadership skills and apply the learnings in my workplace. Situational leadership theory is known to be both adaptable and flexible that was studied and developed by Paul Blanchard and Paul Kersey CITATION Tho09 \l 1033 (Thompson & Vecchio, 2009). Situational leadership is when a leader must adapt to the current situation of his working environment and that of the subordinate CITATION Tho15 \l 1033 (Thompson & Glasø, 2015). While speaking of situational leadership, a leader needs to change his or her style, and the style need to regularly change to be able to meet the needs of the subordinates in an organization. “Situational leadership is not based on a specific skill of the leader; instead, he or she modifies the style of management to suit the requirements of the organization.” (St. Thomas University Online, 2019) The style has not therefore been developed for the subordinates to adapt to the leaders, but the leaders need to adapt to the subordinates. In the current fast-changing world, it is essential to note that understanding how the development of situational leadership characters is essential when there is a need to develop a productive leadership culture. Situational leadership always require the availability of managers, be it in the upper-level or the many levels of the management period CITATION Tho09 \l 1033 (Thompson & Vecchio, 2009). The process allows the management of an organisation to appropriately amend their strategies of communicating to the subordinates in order to remain both practical and relevant as per the situation. In the past few years, the world has been under dynamic changes in terms of technology, therefore leading to growth in globalization and enhanced connectivity through the availability of social media platforms. It is therefore essential for every leader to remain knowledgeable and be able to catch up with the changing technology to enhance better team performance through proper connectivity. It is, therefore essential for every leader to be able to adjust to the fast-changing world. The organization must adjust to the change in workers diversity and changes in the demographics of the workers while remaining focused on the core values of the organization and its mission.
