System Characteristics that contribute to Dynamic Complexity
Healthcare systems have numerous interdependent and interconnected elements that create a dynamic complexity (Spath & Kelly, 2017). Examples of system attributes include non-linearity, tight coupling, history dependency, trade-offs, and change (Spath & Kelly, 2017). The example provided illustrates the existence of change and non-linearity. Changes in healthcare practice should improve safety and quality and save costs (Spath & Kelly, 2017). However, the new concepts introduced must tailor the delivery of service to the needs of the patients through communication and creating awareness, failure to which problems arise.
