Introduction
Sometimes face the real situation that needs an optimum solution. Advanced optimization techniques end up being the best tool to solve such a linear programming problem. Linear programming problem has a vast application, health care being one of the significant application of the model. Some of the techniques that are used to solve a real problem are goal programming and data envelopment analysis.
For this assignment, we wish to reflect on the advanced optimization methodologies such as maximization and minimization of the objective constraint. In this connection, we aim at solving question 80 and 90 in the course work.
RESEARCH QUESTION 1
A pharmaceutical company produces drug NAsaMist from four chemicals. Today, the company must produce 100 pounds of the drug. The three active ingredients in NasaMist are A, B and C. by weight, at least 8% of the NasaMist must consist of A, at least 4% of B, and at least 2% of C. it is necessary that at least 100 pounds of chemical 2 and at least 450 pounds of chemical 3 be used.
Objective 1
The objectives of the first’s research question are as follows;
* To determine the cheapest way of producing today’s batch of NasaMist.
* To use solver /Table to see how much of the percentage of the requirement of A is costing the company, by varying the rate from 6% to 12%.
Result and discussion
To provide an optimum solution to the research question, one excels solver option was used.
