Hospital-acquired infections (HAI), also known as nosocomial infections, are a critical issue encountered by hospitals worldwide. HAIs occur in all settings of care during treatment for medical or surgical conditions. Proper hand hygiene plays a significant role in eradicating the problem. The compliance of the standard care of practice is not consistent among and within healthcare organizations, although most healthcare workers denied their non-compliance. A lot of us seem to forget about the word "Integrity," which we constantly pledge during "huddle" time before beginning our shift. Even with the constant reminder, some of us often fail to realize how we play an important role in decreasing the rate of pathogen transmission and HAI. With proper hand hygiene.
