Introduction
Advanced care planning (ACP) is defined as the planning where the patient or an individual specifies the treatment method, or not receive treatment when not in a decision-making capacity. Advanced care planning and directives are legally accepted in Australia. Various statutory governments have laws that govern one's wishes in end-of-life care. One's preferences can be documented in a will through an advocate where is it done when the sickness has not advanced to chronic levels. Upon one’s health deterioration from a particular disease, the person can be triggered to write a directive to manage his farewell upon his death. This essay will discuss the implications of advanced Directive on managing final farewell. The reference case will be Mellissa, who has been diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer.
Currently, Mellissa is undergoing treatment in the hospital with stage 4 bowel cancer. In most cases, various medical procedures for Cancer at this stage affect very little in reducing the illness. Advanced Care is essential for Mellissa in this stage of the disease. Advanced Care consultant will have to compel Mellisa to have an Advanced Care Plan (ACP) because of the illness.
